ROOM 1 – 1961/1965
The first drawings done in Acri are evidence of his precocious graphic talents, which developed as his creativity progressed. At Acri, in the house of Vico VIII Vincenzo Julia, in the neighbourhood of Casalicchio, near Palazzo Sanseverino Falcone, Vigliaturo spent his childhood. He lived there with his mother Emilia Rende, his father Vittorio, his brother Pasquale and his three sisters Pina, Maria and Mina. In these years his passion for drawing emerged by his strong family links.
Silvio Vigliaturo was interested in his father’s drawings, a man sensitive to artistic and cultural values and from him he learnt the basic elements of drawing.
After his father’s death in 1961, the family moved to Chieri, a small town near Turin. His first works, dated from this period (1961 to 1965), are carried out on paper with pastels, watercolours and oils and representing images taken from his middle-school books. In the gallery of works displayed in this room, you can already find the artist's descriptive power.
