ROOM 5 – 1994
In July 1994 Vigliaturo is in Parma, guest of the gallery owner Puglisi from the Galleria MontMartre. Puglisi likes his paintings, but is particularly interested in his glass sculptures, that the artist began creating during this period. Favourably interested in the modern trend of the first glass sculptures, Puglisi agrees to organise an exhibition, the first to exhibit only sculptures, entitled Glass Games of Lights. The same day Vigliaturo goes to Murano where he meets Adriano Berengo, from Berengo Fine Arts, whom he’d met some years before during the exhibition at Galleria San Vidal; he recalls their first meeting as follows: «I found, with surprise, that you could obtain prestigious results without necessarily using Murano's glass technique. What appeared to me at the time, were some shy attempts, a sort of incorporation of signs and gestures in the glass. The chromatic dimension was almost absent, but the works were appreciated for their immense expressive power. That’s how I took this artist’s work to heart, and I introduced him in the secrets of the furnaces [...] » Berengo guessed the novelty of those sculptures, pointing out to Vigliaturo how the lack of colour made them incomplete. He commissioned him ten sculptures, and became Vigliaturo’s private curator, offering a vital contribution to his international success.
The work “Reminding Murano” (1987)recalls his interest for glass and its working techniques; Murano's techniques awoke in Vigliaturo, after his visits to the furnaces, images that he reproduces in “Master glass-makers” of 1995.
Even if the bright colours which will become during the following years a particular feature of his art, in this works they are still absent.
