The MACA (Museum of Contemporary Art Acri), in collaboration with the Association Oesum Led Icima , has launched the second edition of the Young at Art , with whom he intends to continue and expand the program of recognition and promotion of the arts began in the territory of Calabria 2012.
The edition of last year, which was won by the artists Walter Carnì, Giuseppe Lo Schiavo, Armando Sdao, Valentina Clover, Giuseppe Vecchio Barbieri and the duo {movimentomilc} , formed by Michael Tarzia and Vincenzo Vecchio, intended to promote the choice of those who had decided to continue to operate within the regional borders , despite the difficulties involved , and for this reason , in 2012, the competition was only intended for artists under 35 living in Calabria.
For 2013 , the MACA wants to renew this reflection on art as an expression of a territory, focusing his gaze not only of those who chose to stay, but also on young talent migrants, with the belief that a work of art are always present the history and roots of the people who made them . Hence the subtitle of the initiative: Home is Where the Art is ( The house is where the art ) , where the word Art is going to replace at Heart ( heart) , underscoring the vital and passionate artistic creativity .
The Young at Art 2013 competition is open to all artists born in Calabria not before 1 / 1/1978 .
Those who wish to participate must submit , no later than 24/03/2013 , 5 images of works ( or 3 videos) and a short art curriculum , which have the date and place of birth , to the following e -mail: This email address is being protected from spambots. The Young at Art competition is aimed at creating a collective journey, which will be presented and promoted the works of artists winners, who will develop through four stages, of which two at MACA (Museum of Contemporary Art Acri) - the first of which will kick off in April, during the Week of Culture Ministry of Culture - , one in July , during the Biennale of Contemporary Art Magna Grecia in San Demetrio Corone (Cs ), and the last in Turin , in the month of November, in conjunction with the contemporary art fair Artissima . For they will be joined by an exhibition in the " virtual museum " of the site www.mediocratitour.it, made available by the BCC Mediocrati , with the support of Alphabeti srl.
The exhibition is part of the program MacArtCalabriaProject , which is part of the network of events Financial assistances by the Region of Calabria in the implementation of the Integrated Project Regional Development Contemporary Art in Calabria.
